  • Responsibilities

    The Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing projects and workstreams designed to transform the corporate tax reporting function at Oaktree, with an emphasis on providing real-time tax data and analytics to streamline reporting and inform decision making.  The candidate will work closely with other Oaktree personnel in accounting, tax, treasury, and IT along with our outside tax/accounting service providers to ensure that accounting, legal entity, and investor information is tax-sensitized and validated to ensure accurate tax reporting across Oaktree Operating Group, Intermediate Holding Companies, and the ultimate Oaktree unitholders of the corporate structure.

     

    Additional responsibilities include:

     

    • Leadership in project management, management of tax issues, and strategic planning;
    • Delivering accurate and timely tax information for corporate and Oaktree unitholders;
    • Ensuring accuracy and timing of US federal, state and local tax returns and payments;
    • Reviewing and calculating the book/tax differences, allocations, trial balance and capital accounts;
    • Analyzing federal, state, and international tax issues related to corporate transactions and document proper tax treatment;
    • Tracking of intercompany loans and relevant documentation;
    • Addressing unitholders requests and inquiries in a professional manner;
    • Analyzing US federal and state withholding issues that impact corporate entities and unitholders;
    • Reviewing state apportionment calculation and keeping pace with various state and local legislative changes;
    • Managing audit responses and documentation for all aspects of audits; and
    • Drafting correspondence with state and federal tax authorities;

    Qualifications

    • 6+ years of relevant tax experience.
    • Strong knowledge of general accounting, with knowledge of investment management industry being a plus.
    • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

    Education

    A Bachelor’s degree relevant to position, a Master’s degree in Taxation a plus.
