    The position of Trade Operations Business Analyst is within the Project Management Office (PMO) of the Accounting & Operational Support department. This person will own and drive process and technology improvement projects concentrating on Trade Operations-related initiatives in close coordination with the team in Oaktree’s headquarters in Los Angeles. They will also be the key point of contact for day-to-day support on the new trading platform as Oaktree migrates from its legacy system.


    On an ongoing basis, this person would also support regional issue tracking and reporting, and would be the primary candidate for working in other areas with BA needs outside of the immediate group they support, for example Accounting system enablement, reporting, etc. We are moving towards an architecture where Oaktree-wide data is normalized in common systems (e.g., all of Accounting in Geneva, all trades in Black Mountain) so the approach to getting at and using data will become standardized. This person would be the on-site enabler for the business operating in the new environment.


    Typical responsibilities include:

    • Serve as the go-to person for all BA activities related to assigned projects, translating business needs to technology requirements
    • Work in coordination with London, Los Angeles, New York, and other user groups and BAs/PMs
    • Document business, functional, and technical requirements
    • Gather, document, analyze and draw conclusions regarding complex data and information
    • Define, coordinate, facilitate and/or execute user acceptance tests against business requirements
    • Document test results and develop remediation plans with IT to address unmet business requirements
    • Document current state (“as is”) and future state (“to be”) processes, systems flows, and data flows
    • Document and train BAU teams on new processes & procedures
    • Formulate, define and implement improvements to business processes and operations
    • Building reconciliations and/or reconciliation prototypes
    • Collaborate with management and key stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, assumptions, dependencies, value proposition / rationale, and impacted organizational functions and systems
    • Resolve conflicts and negotiate changes in project priorities and/or scope
    • Serve as liaison to business stakeholders, IT, and third party vendors on an ongoing basis; supporting the prioritization of business and enterprise needs and managing expectations
    • Conduct project meetings and facilitating collaborative discussions
    • Collaborate / coordinate closely in partnership with other departments within Trade Operations and the organization


    • Experience with trading systems, Black Mountain OMS a plus
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in “Big 4” type organizations (or comparable), preferably in the investment management industry
    • Track record in business analysis, project management or process improvement
    • Solid analytical skills and ability to understand and resolve complex problems
    • Experience in working with large sets of data including data manipulation in logical data structures and reconciliations
    • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
