Responsibilities

The Trading and Compliance application development team at Oaktree is responsible for building and implementing systems that support trading and compliance function. Based in Los Angeles, the consultant will serve as a project management analyst with the opportunity to participate in a wide array of global cross functional change initiatives. This position is a consulting position with the possibility to become a permanent hire.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

Business Analysis

  • Designing, developing and delivering solutions for trade operations and order management projects in addition to post go-live production stabilization;
    • Working with the business and development team to understand the business problem and solution requirements
    • Conducting proof of concepts and making solution recommendations
    • Documenting business, functional, and technical requirements
    • Assisting in the transformation of business requirements into a functional and technical design
    • Supporting the build and delivery of solutions and support ongoing business enhancements
  • Gathering, documenting, analyzing and drawing conclusions regarding complex data and information (including Workflow, Feasibility, Cost/Benefit, Trend and Cause-and-Effect Analysis);
  • Defining, creating and running queries and reports; and
  • Acting as a departmental resource by providing analysis, recommendations, and consultation advice for ad-hoc projects.
  • Providing direct operational production support to users of Oaktree’s order management system
  • Serving as a functional relationship manager for 3rd party providers;
  • Conducting project requirements meetings and facilitating collaborative discussions;
  • Collaborating / coordinating with developers in the execution of Quality Assurance (QA) testing.
  • Serving as liaison to business stakeholders and IT developers on an ongoing basis; supporting the prioritization of business needs, managing expectations and timely completion of deliverables;
  • Providing coverage and thought leadership to the team to ensure they are “Connecting the Dots” across complex business challenges, often with many moving parts and firm-wide implications, developing an organized business solution meeting stakeholder/organizational needs;
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, assumptions, dependencies, impacted organizational functions and systems;

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Business Process Management experience
    • Experience with large scale technology implementations, custom development, and data and system integrations required
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services industry, specifically the Alternative Asset Management arena a plus
  • Experience in supporting and implementing Trade Order Management systems like Black Mountain Systems Everest, Charles River Development IMS, Bloomberg AIM etc.,
  • Knowledge of Project Management (tools, tactics, and methodologies), operating policies, procedures and practices
  • Proven experience documenting the requirements, design and QA test cases using standard methodologies, troubleshooting, and release management.
  • Expertise in MS Visio, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint, development experience with SQL queries is a plus.
  • Very strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • A demonstrated ability to create a “consultant like” business presentation by leveraging key data and analysis findings.
  • Proven creative problem solving and innovative mindset.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Economics, Accounting, Finance, CIS, MIS or related field (and/or equivalent experience).
