This role within Portfolio Analytics, Risk and Reporting (“PARR”), is part of the Reporting Operations and Systems sub-team. This is an outward-facing role, with day to day ownership of relationships with our partners in other Oaktree Departments (IT, Data Management, Performance, Accounting) as well out outside vendors. He/she will help engineer and implement routines that will increase efficiencies in data extraction and report preparation, as well as ensure that systems and data are accessible for all PARR reports and processes on an ongoing basis. This includes ensuring connectivity to key systems, as well as monitoring batch processes and resolving issues with IT. Finally, monitoring processes performed by outside vendors, and coordinating the resolution of all issues as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist PARR team with data needs, including performing research to support standard and ad hoc reporting outputs and analyses;
  • Master systems technology to create data extracts;
  • Coordinate, to the extent needed, the production of reporting content needed from other Oaktree departments, including Legal, Compliance, Accounting, Valuation and Marketing;

Project Leadership & Report Development 

  • Represent PARR on firm-wide projects including reporting architecture enhancements, system integration, and new software implementation.
  • Work with stakeholders (Client Relations, PARR Strategy Specialists, Clients, Portfolio Managers) to clearly define and, as necessary, document report requirements;
  • Collaborate with PARR Strategy Specialists and IT to draw up formal report specifications;
  • Project-manage the design and rollout of new automated reports; test report design and the contents specified in the firms reporting system;
  • Conduct analyses and compile supporting documentation related to quality assurance testing;
  • Ensure adherence to Oaktree’s Enterprise Governance standards for development and automation outputs

Queue Management

  • Work with IT to ensure that the rollout of new reports adheres to established plans, including prioritization of reports for automation, communication of reporting deliverables to interested stakeholders, and training report users (including, for example, Marketing and Client Services Reps) concerning the contents and applicability of report data/outputs
  • Coordinate and rationalize report development in collaboration with IT and other business groups by identifying the technology best suited to develop specific reports and to see that work is sent to and managed in the appropriate work queue
  • Work with PARR team members and IT to enhance and evolve Oaktree’s existing core data environment to support automated reporting

Production Support

  • Work with PARR Strategy Specialists as necessary to properly diagnose and fix production issues
  • Work with Accounting and Oaktree’s Performance team to establish processes and procedures to provide consistent, accurate, and approved data for final reporting outputs
  • Work with IT to support the implementation of Oaktree’s various reporting technology initiatives.


  • 5 years of experience working at an Asset Management company, Investment Bank or other related financial services company (including vendors) in a portfolio reporting capacity is preferred
  • A strong interest in investments and investment analytics; highly analytical and willing to learn about a large number of diversified investment strategies
  • Experience analyzing financial data and metrics with sufficient familiarity to recognize potential issues
  • Experience managing and manipulating large amounts of data in Microsoft Excel
  • Geneva, Access/SQL, VBA, and Visual Studio experience a plus

A Bachelor’s degree is required from a top university with a major in Math, Engineering, Economics, Business or another related field.
